Fuel Alcohol Synthesis Technology
Standard Alcohol's fuel alcohol technology is more than just a cleaner-burning synthetic fuel; it is a new paradigm that takes advantage of existing, problematic and "dirty" feedstocks and converts them into a potent fuel. Our solution benefits both the consumers of the fuels as well as the producers of the feedstocks, such as coal mines or natural gas fields, whose resources might not normally be considered "green."
The key difference between Standard Alcohol's technology and other synthetic fuel technologies is our chemical catalyst. By developing a robust catalyst that synthesizes a blend of high-value fuel alcohols, Standard Alcohol can utilize a wider variety of feedstocks economically.
Our process is a modification of the industrially and time-proven production of methanol. Gasification of coal and/or steam-reformation of natural gas, combined with a gas-to-liquids (GTL) process, are far more efficient, scalable, and cost-effective technologies than the typical crop-based alcohol production process. The result is a lower price per gallon as well as the ability to manufacture at commercial scale.
